The hiring pipeline is AI now. Rankers read your resume, LinkedIn, and GitHub together, an AI may run your first screen, and whiteboards are back. Learn to run your job search as a Data and AI pipeline, from market data to signed offer.

Job Hunting in the Age of AI
Meet Your Instructor

Has helped 300+ engineers get jobs

Jerome Hardaway is an Air Force veteran and Google Developer Expert who works both sides of the hiring table. In industry, he is an engineering manager whose career spans big tech, ed tech, private equity tech, and the public sector โ€” Microsoft, McGraw Hill, Vista Equity Partners, and Accenture Federal Services, supporting USPS and the U.S. Department of Education. In the community, he is the Geek At Arms (Executive Director & Founder) of Vets Who Code, a veteran-led 501(c)(3) that since 2014 has trained 300+ veterans and military spouses into software engineers, with $20M+ in collective alumni earnings, 100% remote and free to the troops. A GitHub Star alum and LinkedIn Learning instructor, his work has earned White House workforce development recognition and been featured in Wired, Business Insider, and the Stack Overflow Blog. He builds teams by day and builds engineers for them by night, so he teaches the job search the way hiring managers actually read it โ€” as an engineering problem. Gather the data, build the artifacts, ship, and measure, using AI to sharpen what you already have, never to invent what you don’t.

Run Your Job Search Like a Data and AI Project

I teach my troops to run their job search like a Data and AI project. Volume is dead as a strategy. Applications per hire have tripled since 2021, and auto-apply bots put them there. Depth is the lever that’s left.

This workshop is built on 12 years of Vets Who Code placement data, 300+ graduates, and a curriculum mapped to 128 employer-validated Lightcast skills. I’ll show you the exact system: the data sources, the Brag Database, the resume scorer, the AI tools, and the AI Screen Simulator.

Three laws run the whole day. Measure everything. Never list what you can’t defend. Distribution beats talent. Every tool we use has a free tier. You’ll leave knowing how to build and run the system; running it is up to you.

What You Will Master

The Senior Engineer Toolkit
  • Learn the “Four Users” (You, ATS, HR, Dev Team), what each one scores, and how to pass all four in sequence.
  • Ground your search in real market data (Lightcast, O*NET, BLS, LinkedIn Insights) and pick your strongest path to getting employed.
  • Build a Brag Database fed by a weekly Friday Setup that turns your merged PRs into resume accomplishments.
  • Learn how ATS parses, matches, and scores you, then score your lane resume the same way.
  • Use AI tools for grounded study: study guides, story tables, company briefs, and rubrics built from the job description.
  • Turn your GitHub, portfolio web app, and LinkedIn into one consistent signal using specs, harnesses, evals, and the depth ladder.
  • Learn how AI interviewers score transcripts, and how to defend every line on your resume through the final round.
  • Track your funnel by channel, run postmortems on losses, and negotiate offers with a comparison matrix.

Prerequisites

  • Able to build and deploy a web app in at least one stack.
  • A GitHub account.
  • Access to an AI assistant.

Who is this for?

You should be able to build and deploy a web app in at least one stack, and have a GitHub account and access to an AI assistant. Every tool in the workshop has a free tier.
