Agentic Frontend Development with OpenAI Codex

Katia Gil Guzman is a Developer Experience Engineer at OpenAI, where she helps developers build with OpenAI’s latest models, tools, and agentic workflows. She works closely with product teams and developer communities to turn frontier AI capabilities into practical patterns builders can use today. Before joining OpenAI’s Developer Experience team, Katia was a Solutions Architect, partnering with customers across Europe to design and implement AI solutions. With a software engineering background and prior experience at Microsoft and Stripe, she brings a rare mix of hands-on technical depth, product intuition, and real-world implementation experience to the future of AI-assisted software development.

Agentic Frontend Development with OpenAI Codex

Frontend development is full of visual and interaction details: layout, state, motion, responsiveness, accessibility, and polish. In this workshop, learn how to use Codex as a true frontend partner. You’ll take an idea, sketch, screenshot, or existing repo and turn it into working UI. From there, you’ll refine the parts that matter in real product work: component structure, styling, responsive behavior, accessibility, animations, and complex interactions.

You’ll see how AI can help with the messy middle of frontend work, where the first version is rarely the final one. The workshop will cover practical patterns for prompting, reviewing, debugging, and iterating with Codex so the agent can help you move faster while you stay in control of the craft.

This is not an intro to prompting. It’s a practical, advanced workshop for experienced frontend developers who want to bring AI-native workflows into real product work.

What You Will Master

The Senior Engineer Toolkit
  • How to use Codex agents across the frontend workflow, from planning a feature to refining the final UI.
  • How to turn ideas, sketches, screenshots, and visual references into working frontend code.
  • How to use Codex inside an existing repo, with real constraints from your components, styles, state, and product patterns.
  • How to prompt for frontend-specific details like layout, spacing, hierarchy, responsive states, empty states, hover states, and loading states.
  • How to build and refine advanced interactions, animations, and complex UI behavior with less trial and error.
  • How to use visual feedback as part of the iteration loop, not only text prompts.
  • How to review, debug, and improve Codex-generated code while keeping frontend quality high.
  • How to decide what to delegate to an agent and what to keep under your direct control.

Prerequisites

  • Experience with frontend development concepts like component structure, styling, responsive behavior, accessibility, and animations
